Today, 19 December, is a historic date in Val di Fassa: the new Campitello - Col Rodella 3S gondola lift has officially entered into service, a project destined to shape the future of mobility in Val di Fassa. At 7.30 a.m., at the Campitello valley station, Sitc president Daniele Dezulian welcomed guests to the informal inauguration, followed by a blessing from Don Mario Bravin and the first ascent to Col Rodella. ‘This is a historic day for all of us at SITC, for Campitello and for the entire valley,’ said Dezulian. "The 3S is Italy's first automatic coupling three-cable tourist lift, the most modern and spacious, with a capacity of 2,200 people per hour. This infrastructure will significantly improve the fluidity, reliability and quality of service, accompanying us for the next forty years".
The project, completed in a year and a half thanks to the work of dozens of companies and hundreds of professionals, starting with engineer Andrea Boghetto and the technicians at Doppelmayr, represents a turning point for the area. Local authorities, including the mayors of Campitello and Canazei, were also present at the opening. ‘This is not just a facility,’ emphasised Campitello mayor Alessandro Bernard, ‘but the heart of a project to revitalise tourism and the economy in our town".
At 8.30 a.m., the cabins welcomed the first skiers, who reached the 2,400 metres of Col Rodella in less than six minutes, ushering in a new era for skiing, hiking and, more generally, tourism in the Dolomites.
